Stone Walls Built Solid
Sometimes a dry stone wall isn't the right answer. A garden wall next to a drive, a boundary wall at the front of the house, a raised bed or a wall that has to match the cottage behind it usually wants mortar, for a tighter finish and a wall that shrugs off knocks.
We build mortared stone walls across Derbyshire, from a few metres of low garden wall to long boundary runs. Every wall goes on a concrete footing sized for the job, with the stone laid by hand and the joints finished to suit the property.
We match the stone to your house and the walls around it, and reuse existing stone where it's sound, so a new wall looks like it's always been there.
Proper Footings
Every wall starts on a concrete footing sized for its height, so it doesn't lean or crack as the ground moves.
Matched Stone
Gritstone, limestone or reclaimed, chosen to sit right with your house and the walls around it.
Neat Pointing
Joints raked and finished by hand to suit the property, whether that's a flush cottage finish or a deeper recess.
Built to Any Height
Low garden edging, raised beds, front boundaries or taller walls for privacy, all built to stand.
Garden Wall Builders
Most of the mortared walls we build are garden walls. That means replacing a tired timber fence with stone, raising a low wall ahead of a new gate or driveway, building raised beds, or putting up a boundary wall that matches the ones either side.
We handle the whole job, from clearing the old wall or fence and digging out the footing, through to the final pointing and coping. If there's old stone on site worth saving, we'll use it.
