Most of our landscaping work starts with stone, because that's what Derbyshire gardens are built from. Walls, cobbles, paving, steps and edging all have to sit together and read as one space rather than four separate jobs bolted onto each other.
We take on the structural side of a garden: dry stone and mortared walls to divide or retain, cobbled paths and courtyards, and patios and paving where a hard surface is needed. Levelling, edging and the preparation underneath is part of the same job.

Cobbled Paths, Courtyards and Driveways
Cobbling is one of the oldest surfaces in Derbyshire and it still does a job nothing modern quite matches. Setts laid by hand into a proper bed, following the fall of the ground, give you a surface that ages into a garden instead of dating in it.
We lay cobbled pathways, courtyards, driveways and edging details, usually in natural stone setts. It suits period properties and stone cottages particularly well, where block paving would look wrong against the building.
Cobbling also works alongside the rest of the garden rather than in isolation. A cobbled path running to a dry stone wall, or a cobbled border framing a patio, is a common combination.
