Completed Projects

From restoring historic stone walls to creating stunning outdoor spaces, our completed projects showcase the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and traditional techniques that define our family-run business.

Wall with Candle Recesses

This 12m stone wall repair project required a careful blend of traditional dry stone techniques and cemented sections to seamlessly match the original structure. Using a combination of reclaimed house stone - some weighing up to 300kg - we ensured the repair not only reinforced the wall's strength but also preserved its historic character. The result is a structurally sound and visually cohesive restoration that integrates naturally with the surrounding property.

A key feature of this project was the addition of custom recesses, as requested by the customer, designed to hold candle lights for a charming evening display. These recesses were carefully incorporated into the wall, balancing functionality with aesthetics while maintaining the integrity of the structure. The completed repair not only restores the wall’s durability but also enhances its appeal, making it a striking yet practical feature within the landscape.

20m Traditional Dry Stone Wall in Brackenfield

This 20-metre stretch of traditional Derbyshire walling was completed in Brackenfield, built using a random boulder stone style to create a natural and rustic appearance. With minimal dressing, each stone was carefully selected and placed to maintain the authentic character of traditional dry stone walling.

The result is a strong, well-structured wall with a clean and quality finish, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. By focusing on both durability and aesthetics, this wall is built to stand the test of time while enhancing the natural beauty of the area.

3m Accident-Damaged Dry Stone Wall Repair in Baslow

This 3-metre dry stone wall in Baslow was repaired after being damaged in an accident. The damaged section was carefully dismantled, with each stone assessed and reused where possible to maintain the wall’s original character. The repair was completed with a focus on both strength and appearance, ensuring the wall blends seamlessly with the surrounding structure.

With the repair completed to a neat and sturdy finish, the project was made even more enjoyable by the beautiful views of the Baslow countryside, providing a scenic backdrop while working.

Dry Stone Border and 11sqm Patio

This garden project began with building a dry-stone effect border to frame the outdoor space, creating a natural and timeless look. Once the border was complete, we moved on to installing an 11-square-metre patio, designed to seamlessly blend with an existing patio nearby. The customer requested a completely random stone layout for a more organic appearance, ensuring the new section complemented the surrounding area while maintaining its own character.

The entire garden was ripped out and transformed in just five days, with a focus on both efficiency and attention to detail. From clearing the space to laying each stone by hand, we ensured the patio was built to a high standard with a neat, durable finish. The result is a garden that’s now more functional and visually appealing, ready to be enjoyed year-round.

Dry Stone Wall Repair in Bonsall

This dry stone limestone wall in Bonsall was damaged and needed careful repair to restore its strength and appearance. The end of the wall had a square shape, which didn’t match the curve on the other side of the driveway. We started by removing the damaged section, taking down the loose stones and clearing the area. Each stone was then sorted and prepared to be reused where possible, ensuring the wall would still have its traditional look.

Once the area was cleared, we rebuilt the wall with a smooth, natural curve that better suits the driveway entrance. Every stone was placed by hand, ensuring a strong and sturdy structure that blends in with the surroundings. After finishing the driveway wall, we also repaired a gap in a nearby field wall for the same customer. Both repairs were done with care and attention to detail, and the customer was delighted with the results.

Dry Stone Wall Rebuild for a Local Church

We rebuilt this 35-metre traditional gritstone wall for a local church, ensuring it maintained its original character and strength. The wall was carefully taken down, with every stone saved and prepared for reuse. None of the stones were dressed, preserving their natural, rustic appearance while still achieving a clean, well-structured finish. Each stone was carefully placed to ensure a solid build that will stand the test of time.

Throughout the rebuild, we made sure to include plenty of through stones to give the wall extra strength and stability. By focusing on both durability and appearance, the finished wall not only looks neat and well-built but also fits in perfectly with its surroundings. The result is a traditional stone wall that will continue to serve the church and community for years to come.

Small Gap Repair in Greater Manchester

A small gap in a dry stone wall was carefully rebuilt for a client near Manchester, ensuring both strength and a neat finish. After assessing the existing structure, we decided to take down an extra metre beyond the original damaged section to guarantee the rebuilt wall would be stable and long-lasting. Each stone was carefully repositioned to match the traditional style of the surrounding wall.

This project was completed with the help of Aydn, who played a key role in the rebuilding process. With clear weather and great teamwork, it was a productive and enjoyable day, resulting in a strong, well-finished repair that blends seamlessly with the rest of the wall.

6ft Gritstone Wall

This 6-foot-tall garden gritstone wall was completed last week, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern materials. Built using rough Derbyshire gritstone, the wall features a classic dry-stone effect, giving it a natural and rustic look while still providing strength and durability. Each stone was carefully placed to create a neat, well-structured finish that complements the garden's surroundings.

To complete the wall, we added a flat top finish using 900x600 Fossil Mint Indian sandstone pavers, which provide a clean, smooth surface that contrasts beautifully with the textured gritstone below. The combination of traditional stonework and modern sandstone capping gives the wall a timeless appearance that enhances both the garden’s aesthetics and functionality.

Standing at 6’9” tall on one side, the wall features a gentle curve that enhances its natural look while following the shape of the landscape. To ensure long-lasting stability, we dug 2 feet below ground to create a solid foundation, giving the wall the support it needs to stay firm and secure for years to come.

23sqm Patio with Retaining Wall in Youlgreave

This 23-square-metre patio was installed in Youlgreave, Derbyshire, using Khandla grey Indian sandstone pavers sourced from Midco in Bakewell. The natural grey tones of the sandstone create a clean and modern look while blending well with the surrounding landscape. Before installation, the ground and soil were carefully dug out and removed off-site to create a solid foundation, ensuring the patio is both level and long-lasting.

As part of the project, an electrical cable was laid beneath the patio to provide power for a future summer house, keeping the wiring hidden and protected. A small retaining limestone wall was also built to support the surrounding ground and complement the patio’s design. With quality materials and careful craftsmanship, this patio is both functional and visually appealing, making it a perfect outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining.

7ft Mortared Wall

This 7ft 6in mortared wall was built to create a private garden space for a customer, offering both privacy and durability. Constructed with care, the wall provides a neat and sturdy finish that blends well with the garden’s surroundings. To complete the design, we installed coping stones with a built-in water channel system, which directs rainwater through a hidden pipe into a trough at the base, ensuring proper drainage and preventing water buildup.

The block wall construction was expertly handled by our bricklayers, Dan and Cal, who ensured the structure was built to last while maintaining a clean and professional finish. The before and after photos showcase the transformation, with the finished wall not only enhancing the garden’s privacy but also adding a smart, practical feature that will stand the test of time.
